Privacy Policy
Hi, I'm Chris, and I run Bottle Brief. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and what control you have over it. I've tried to keep it clear and free of legal jargon.
What Bottle Brief Does
Bottle Brief lets you snap a photo of a wine label (or type in a wine name) and get AI-powered insights like tasting notes, pricing, and reviews.
What We Collect
If you use the app without an account
- Wine label photos — When you take or upload a photo, it's sent to our server and then to a third-party AI service for analysis. We keep the photo for up to 365 days to help improve the service, then delete it.
- Search queries — If you type in a wine name instead of using a photo, we store that query.
- Analytics and crash data — We collect basic usage and crash data (for example, through services like Google Analytics or Firebase) to understand how people use the app and to fix bugs.
If you create an account
In addition to the above, we also collect:
- Your name and email address — Used to manage your account and communicate with you if needed.
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We don't use your photos for anything other than analyzing wine labels and improving the service.
Third-Party Services
To analyze wine labels, we send your photos to third-party AI services. Bottle Brief uses an agentic approach — rather than a single service doing all the work, a team of AI agents each play different roles in identifying the wine and collecting and synthesizing information like tasting notes, pricing, and reviews. Your photo or search query may be shared across multiple AI services as part of this process. We also use third-party analytics tools to collect basic usage and crash data. These services have their own privacy policies and handle data according to their own terms.
Your Choices and Rights
- You don't have to create an account. The app works without one.
- You can delete your account and data. If you've created an account, you can delete it along with your associated data. To do so, use the account deletion option in the app or contact us at the email below.
- You can contact us anytime with questions about your data or to request that we delete information we've collected from you.
Children's Privacy
Bottle Brief is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
